The 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of World Economic Forum (WEF) closed on Thursday in north China's Tianjin, highlighting solidarity and cooperation amid global challenges.

世界经济论坛第十四届新领军者年会（又称“夏季达沃斯论坛”）29日在天津落下帷幕，与会者共同商讨合作共赢，应对全球挑战。

During the three-day event, also known as the Summer Davos, more than 1,500 attendees from businesses, governments, international organizations and academia offered insights into topics including artificial intelligence, green transition and climate change.

在为期三天的论坛中，来自商界、政府、国际组织和学术界约1500多名与会者围绕人工智能、绿色转型、气候变化等话题展开讨论。

This year's event takes place amid a range of global challenges, including slowing growth, debt risks, climate change and the wealth gap.

At the closing ceremony, WEF President Borge Brende announced that the next Summer Davos will be held in China's northeastern city of Dalian.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday appointed Xu Haoliang of China as undersecretary-general and associate administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

Xu has been serving as UN assistant secretary-general and director of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support at the UNDP since 2019. Between 2013 and 2019, he was UNDP assistant administrator and director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) Nishan Dialogue on Digital Civilization kicked off on June 26 in Qufu, east China's Shandong Province. The dialogue, "The Age of AI: Building a Digital World of Exchanges, Mutual Learning and Inclusiveness," is the first thematic event the WIC has held as an international organization.

世界互联网大会数字文明尼山对话6月26日在山东省曲阜市开幕。本次大会主题为“人工智能时代：构建交流、互鉴、包容的数字世界”。这是世界互联网大会国际组织成立后首次举办的专题性活动。

Addressing the event's opening ceremony, Zhuang Rongwen, director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, said that blazing an innovation-driven, technology-oriented, sustainable and healthy AI development path has become an important issue of common concern for the international community.

中国国家互联网信息办公室主任庄荣文在开幕式上指出，如何走出一条创新驱动、技术向善、持续健康的人工智能发展道路，已经成为国际社会共同关心的重要议题。

Zhuang urged efforts to seize the opportunities of AI development, explore good strategies for AI governance, jointly promote exchanges and mutual learning among human civilizations in the AI era, and jointly build a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

庄荣文强调，要在全球文明倡议指引下，把握人工智能发展机遇，探索人工智能治理良策，共促人工智能时代的人类文明交流互鉴、和谐共生，携手构建网络空间命运共同体。

US authorities say a debris field located in the North Atlantic leads to a conclusion that OceanGate's Titan submersible suffered a "catastrophic implosion" (a violent collapse inwards), instantly killing all five passengers on board.
